As we learned in our last post, Paul admonished the church to avoid drunkenness but to be continually filled with the Holy Spirit. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit….” Ephesians 5:18 If we are serious about following the Lord and being discipled, we will naturally desire to have all the Father has provided. We will also learn to become teachable and pliable to His ways, even when we do not fully understand the why.

Being fully surrendered to God is not a one and done decision, though it begins with a conscious determination and willful choice to be dedicated and lovingly abandoned to Him and His will. Like any other commitment in life, it requires daily and continual focus and intentional determination and yielding.

We have entered a new year, and as always, some will make resolutions to ensure they have a better year than the previous one. They will make resolutions to earn a degree, lose weight, get in shape, eat healthier, make more money, and the list goes on and on.

The next characteristic we will look at in this series is being fervent. Fervency keeps us from being timid, lukewarm, and casual believers
